Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is an unforgettable learning destination for students and youth who have a passion for and interest in marine life. Learn more about visiting and how students can gain a deeper understanding of the aquatic world.
Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is the first and only aquatic facility of its kind in Ontario and provides students and guests of all ages with a wide selection of quality environmental education programs that enhance their experience.
A self-guided visit gives students access to the Aquarium for the day, including dive shows, touch tanks and the Discovery Centre. The Aquarium also offers curriculum-connected programs in its two classrooms and out in the Aquarium.
Classroom workshops offered at the Aquarium span a variety of grade level and are linked to Ontario’s Ministry of Education curriculum. Every workshop includes one or more hands-on activities or experiments and a component of conservation and environmental awareness, so students will always leave with a new sense of wonder.
From discovering the fascinating world of sharks and delving into the amazing world of algae to exploring the effects of environmental disasters and learning about various careers in Marine Science, the classroom workshops enhance the students’ already memorable visit.
Students in grades 10 – 12 can even take an additional Behind the Scenes Tour to see and learn about the complex systems that keep the Aquarium running smoothly day-to-day.
Students will leave the 130,000-square-foot building with a deeper understanding of the aquatic world in addition to a greater appreciation of environmental protection and conservation.
