Ninety minutes after stepping off the plane at Denver International Airport, the charter bus unloads an eager Florida Christian School Band from Miami, Florida, into the 20-degree, crisp mountain air of Winter Park Resort as the snow begins to fall.
Shortly after dropping their luggage and band equipment in their comfortable condominium units, the band is met by Jess McDowell, Director of Sales & Marketing of the Winter Park Ski Music Festival and a Winter Park Resort Group Navigator, who informs them of the grueling itinerary awaiting them. The next four days will be filled with fresh tracks on world-class terrain under the tutelage of top-certified ski and snowboard instructors, hot chocolate breaks on the mountain, performances in front of accredited judges, and a downtown awards ceremony—complete with a dance party to top off a week of serious bonding, serious performances and serious fun.
Florida Christian School Band is partaking in an experience as unique as the Rocky Mountains themselves, all leading up to growth as a team of performers and expanding their horizons to an environment as special as their fellow classmates. Winter Park Resort’s flexible meeting spaces and unique programming offerings truly have the ability enrich any group trip in a very special way. Winter Park Resort and Winter Park Ski Music Festival have had a long-time relationship of marrying the best of Colorado skiing with the best performance opportunities.
McDowell says it best: “Winter Park Ski-Music Festival believes that like music, skiing and snowboarding are lifelong activities. For over 29 years, Winter Park Ski Music Festival has introduced over 50,000 music students to the lifelong sport of skiing and snowboarding. We choose Winter Park Resort for its prime location, outstanding slopes for ALL ski and snowboard levels and great lodging options.”
For the Florida Christian School Band, this trip was an experience of a lifetime, and they’ll be back in the spring of 2018 to partake in creating more outstanding memories with their classmates in the snow-capped Rocky Mountains.
