From educational experiences to cheering the home baseball team to victory and more, Chicago Southland welcomes youth groups to enjoy an outing with their peers. There’s plenty of fun to be had in the area! Here’s a look at some of the fun activities available for youth groups in Chicago Southland.
Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park
For a fun and educational experience, take part in the Outdoors@theNATE program at Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park, located on the campus of Governors State University. Featuring large-scale, contemporary sculptures, the park has 29 placed throughout the 100 acres of prairie landscape. The park also offers free admission and has guided, customized group tours available for an additional cost.
The Shrine of Christ’s Passion
The Shrine of Christ’s Passion allows visitors to explore a half-mile prayer trail depicting the last days of Jesus Christ’s life. As a great option for religious youth groups, this interactive trail features music and narration at each stop on the trail. With 40 life-size bronze sculptures throughout the 30-acre park, the attraction is also home to a 10,000-square-foot gift shop and café.
Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events
Groups can take part in a friendly competition when they challenge their peers to a race at Accelerate Indoor Speedway & Events. This electric go-kart racing experience puts drivers behind the wheel with speeds up to 50 mph. From group races to seeing which driver can reach the fastest speed, this indoor adventure can be a teambuilding experience for groups or just a day of fun. On-site catering options are available, along with a variety of a la cart options for any size group.
Dave & Buster’s
Whether it is a celebration or a day of games, youth groups can enjoy an outing filled with video games, interactive fun, and great food options at Dave & Buster’s. On-site planners can assist in customizing an itinerary and package for youth groups, among them breakfast, lunch, and dinner packages that include dining, unlimited beverages, and a Power Card for having fun in the Million Dollar Midway games area. Dave & Buster’s offers a variety of options for youth groups, including team banquets and fundraising opportunities.
Root for the Home Team
Watch a Chicago Fire Soccer Club match at Toyota Park from March to October, cheer on the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field from April to October, or watch the Windy City ThunderBolts at Standard Bank Stadium from May to September. Equestrian fans can enjoy outdoor events from May to October at HITS Chicago-Balmoral Park.
